Greg Docherty is yet to start for Rangers, but he must be in the starting 11 at Ibrox on Saturday.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty will be locked in his office working out a way in which he can incorporate all of his new Rangers signings as the Gers go up against Hibernian on Saturday at Ibrox.

The Light Blues face a difficult test against Neil Lennon’s side as they look to keep the pressure on Aberdeen who have moved back into second place, after playing one more game during the week.

The Gers instead went up against Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup, earning a 3-0 win at Bellslea Park thanks to a Josh Windass hat-trick.

Russell Martin, Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy have all established themselves as crucial components of Murty’s starting eleven, while striker Jason Cummings scored in his substitute appearance against Ross County.

Greg Docherty also came on as a substitute against Owen Coyle’s County during the 2-1 win at the Global Energy Stadium, and the former Hamilton ace must now start for Murty’s side on Saturday.

His creativity and eye for goal from the middle of the park should convince Murty to alter his formation. A 4-3-3 system would see the Gers bring the best out of both their attack, but also offer defensive rigidity.

Windass scored the pick of his three goals by cutting in from the left flank and driving an excellent low effort into the net, and lining up on the left side of a front three would surely bring the best out of the versatile ace.

Alongside Alfredo Morelos and Murphy, the Gers would boast an attack that would strike fear into Hibs’ defence. That will allow Murty to pick three central midfielders instead of using two against Ross County.

Docherty and Jason Holt should play either side of a slightly more defensive Goss. It would not only see Rangers benefit from having a player like Docherty in the side, but also give the Gers a much better balance.

The 21-year-old’s presence in the side would bring the best out of his teammates.
