AC Milan’s sporting director has claimed Marouane Fellaini is set to leave Manchester United this summer, so why not a return to Everton?

Manchester United’s physical utility man Marouane Fellaini is set to leave Old Trafford this summer, with AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli confirming the player will not sign an extension, in quotes via Sky Sports News.
However, after revealing that no deal is in place for the Italian giants to bring the 30-year-old to the San Siro, Everton should plot to re-sign the player ahead of next term, in order to bolster their options in the attacking third.
Fellaini made a name for himself as an attacking menace at Everton, acting as a linchpin to connect forward plays, while using his physicality and aerial prowess to make late marauds into the box to score and create goals.

However, recent managers at Old Trafford have deployed Fellaini in a holding midfield role, limiting his effectiveness and exposing his obvious flaws. The Red Devil is not the most talented or technically gifted player in the league but, on his day and in the right position, he is a menace for any defence to have to deal with.
Last term Everton finished 19th for number of shots registered, shots on target and chances created in England’s top tier, suggesting there are serious issues with the supply line to the £27million man Cenk Tosun.

The acquisition of Fellaini would undoubtedly improve these numbers, as Jordan Pickford – famed for his kicking ability – could find the Belgian almost at will in the final third, allowing the likes of Theo Walcott, Tosun and Yannick Bolasie to react to his touch and receive the ball closer to goal, similar to Steven Pienaar and Nikica Jelavic in 2012.
It seems after another mediocre season that perhaps Everton should do away with visions of free-flowing, tiki-taka football and get back to causing problems for defences and ultimately scoring goals. The signing of Fellaini would certainly go a long way towards improving things in that sense.
