Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has recently called for his side to show more ambition in the transfer market…

Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa tries to score past FC Ingolstadt 04's Ramazan Ozcan.

The Daily Mirror have reported that Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to sign Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich for £30 million this summer.

Spurs have reportedly identified the Brazilian as a top quality target, who they could bring to White Hart Lane.

Costa has been a rotational player at Bayern this season, and is said to be keen on an exit to the Premier League in the coming months.

He would unquestionably be a valuable addition for almost any side in England, and with Tottenham circling, it would be wise for Everton to follow suit.

Of course, Spurs would be able to offer Costa Champions League football, which could give them the advantage in the pursuit.

But Everton have consistently stated their ambition to break into the top four, and Costa’s arrival at Goodison Park would send out a statement of intent.

The 26-year-old is a box of tricks, and would enhance Ronald Koeman’s attacking options considerably.

And with Romelu Lukaku recently asking Everton to show more ambition in the transfer window, Costa’s arrival may just be the sort of signing which would help encourage the Belgian international to stick around.
