Everton are said to be wanting to break their transfer record on Celtic’s Moussa Dembele, but Timo Werner would be a better buy.

According to a report in The Sun, Everton are prepared to break their transfer record this summer.

Everton have plenty of funds to spend and Ronald Koeman is keen to invest at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are said to be looking to snap up Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, in a deal worth over £30 million.

But if Celtic are prepared to break their transfer record, then they are better off looking to sign Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner instead.

Werner has been in scintillating form in the Bundesliga over the past campaign, and looks to be one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe.

The 21-year-old has already broken into the German national side, with his pace making him look a threat to any defence.

Werner has the tools required to be a major hit in England, and his arrival at Goodison Park would be a huge statement of intent from Koeman’s side.

Of course, Everton would have some persuading to do to convince Werner to make a move. After all, he has Champions League football on offer at Leipzig.

But Everton are determined to gate crash to top four soon, and Werner could be the man needed to fire them on to the Premier League’s top table.
