Sam Allardyce appears to have thrown his hat into the ring for the Everton job following the sacking of Ronald Koeman a week ago.
When questioned about whether he would be interested in succeeding Koeman at Goodison Park, Allardyce responded, as quoted by the BBC: “Who knows? I’d have to consider that, if that phone call happens.”

As a result of this admission from the 63-year-old, who left his position at Crystal Palace at the end of last season, he is now the 7/2 second favourite with Skybet to be appointed behind Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
It is easy to see why Allardyce is being linked with the position, what with the former England chief having a reputation of keeping clubs away from relegation.
In fact he has never gone down in his entire career despite often managing sides expected to do so and his last two jobs, at Palace and Sunderland, saw him drag both teams away from the bottom three of the Premier League after being appointed.

That is a position that the Merseysiders currently find themselves in following a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City at the weekend and unfortunately their strong links with Allardyce suggest they are in a genuine relegation battle.
This is some fall from grace for a team looking to finally break into the top six this season after spending a record £144.9m (Telegraph) on new players over the summer and there could well be a significant rebuild needed at the club over the coming 18 months.
