The Daily Mail reports that Everton are one of a number of clubs showing interest in Arsenal’s Chris Willock, with the teenage forward’s contract up this summer.

The Gunners are said to be keen to hang on to Willock, who has been with the club since the age of five and is regarded as one of the countries top prospects.

Everton, however, could be his best bet. Here’s why:

Opportunities

Had Willock been an Everton player this season, it’s almost certain he’d have made more than the two appearances he has for Arsenal. The performances of Toffees youngsters Mason Holgate, Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman continue to repay the faith shown in them by manager Ronald Koeman. While there is every chance Willock could get his chance at the Emirates next term, especially with high-profile departures expected, it is Everton who perhaps offer the greater likelihood.

Famdem

Although Willock’s brother Joe is also on Arsenal’s books, the prospect of moving to England’s north west, where another sibling, Matthew, is currently based as a Manchester United player, is sure to appeal. Having another familiar face around – Willock has played with Everton’s Davies and Lookman for England Under-19s – would only ease the transition should he decide to move on.

Ambition

A wealthy owner, one of the continent’s top bosses, a vibrant young side on form and a stadium on the way – Everton is a club at which there is no desire from anyone to continue standing still. The same, sadly, cannot be said of Arsenal, who could easily finish below the Toffees this season – something they may have to get used to in future. With Everton at the start of their journey, now is perhaps the prefect time for Willock to grow with them.
