Robert Sanchez is the undisputed No.1 goalkeeper at Chelsea, and that does not seem likely to change anytime soon.

With Filip Jorgensen stuck behind him in the pecking order, there are already rumours of a January exit for the Swede.

Chelsea are reportedly hesitant to let him go out on loan, but a permanent move has not been ruled out yet.

The Spanish shot-stopper has been consistent and reliable for most of the campaign, leaving little reason for change between the posts.

Despite his good form, there was an incident during Saturday’s win over Burnley that drew frustration from head coach Enzo Maresca.

Sanchez’s quick distribution under pressure to Malo Gusto started the move that led to Chelsea’s second goal at Turf Moor.

But just before that, the Spaniard had kicked the ball straight out of play, missing a chance to launch a counter-attack. Journalist Bobby Vincent said Maresca was ‘furious’ with the goalkeeper over the mistake.

Overall, though, Maresca will likely be happy with how Sanchez has played this season. His ability to deal with crosses has stood out as one of his biggest strengths.

Chelsea have been linked with other goalkeepers, but if Sanchez maintains his current form, there may not be any need for a new signing.

AC Milan’s Mike Maignan is another name who could come up again now that his contract situation is starting to become an issue in Italy.

Robert Sanchez still had a good game against Burnley

Maresca should still be quite happy with Sanchez’s display overall. He did not do much wrong at all at Turf Moor.

He made two saves and one high claim, while he also completed one successful run out, according to Sofascore.

It was his pass to Gusto that led up to Fernandez’s goal as well, which proved to be an important moment for the team.

With back-to-back games against Barcelona in the Champions League and Arsenal in the Premier League on the horizon, Sanchez is fully expected to keep his place between the sticks.
