Everton should look at Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi instead of team-mate Danny Welbeck.

According to The Mirror, Everton are lining up a £30 million bid for Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck if they cannot lure his team-mate Olivier Giroud to Goodison Park.

But if Everton are prepared to spend that sort of money on an Arsenal player then they should test the Gunners’ resolve for Alex Iwobi.

There is every chance that the talented 21-year-old winger will struggle for regular Premier League football this season.

The Nigeria international started 18 league games under Arsene Wenger last term but his importance might be severely reduced if the French manager completes a move for winger Thomas Lemar who, according to The Sun, is a £45 million target of Wenger.

With Ademola Lookman and Aaron Lennon both linked with moves away, Everton boss Ronald Koeman will need a winger this month if the Toffees duo leave and Iwobi would be a lot more involved on Merseyside than he would be in North London this season.

He is still raw, and Wenger might be reluctant to lose him based on the fact he came through the Gunners’ academy, but there is plenty of talent there and a £30 million offer would certainly give the veteran manager a decision to make – it’s two-thirds of Lemar’s reported price-tag.

Factor in his potential, and Welbeck’s injury history, and signing Iwobi, as a long-term investment, makes a lot more sense than his English team-mate.
