Tottenham Hotspur’s South Korean international struggled at wing-back against Swansea City.
With Ben Davies unavailable for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Swansea City, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino opted to play an unlikely wing-back in the form of Heung-min Son.
The South Korean international is brilliant in an attacking sense but he looked completely out of place in a relatively unfamiliar position, and one wonders why Tottenham did not show faith in youngster Kyle Walker-Peters.
While predominantly a right-back, the 20-year-old can do a decent job on the opposite flank, proving as much in the UEFA Youth League last season, and having been an unused substitute against Borussua Dortmund earlier in the week, it would have made sense for Walker-Peters to start against the Swans.
Pochettino may have had one eye on the upcoming EFL Cup clash with Barnsley, where the youngster is expected to start on the right. However, with both Davies and Danny Rose unavailable on Saturday, Walker-Peters should have stepped in.
He is a far better option in that regard that Son, who should be allowed to do what he does best further up the field.
The experiment did not work and Tottenham need to get it right more often than not given their ongoing struggles at Wembley.
Walker-Peters impressed against Newcastle United earlier this season, albeit on the right, and he has what it takes to excel in the Premier League.
