Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that he is shocked that Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea did not sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City before the striker moved to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal reportedly paid Premier League champions Manchester City £45 million in transfer fees for Jesus.
Former Arsenal star Merson cannot believe that Chelsea did not make a move for the 25-year-old striker this summer.
The Sky Sports pundit had added that he is shocked that Arsenal managed to bring in Jesus this summer.
Chelsea should have signed Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “You look at the other side and Arsenal had Gabriel Jesus and you’re scratching your head. How did Arsenal get him?

“The kid is an out-and-out centre-forward, he may even outscore Haaland. He was unbelievable the other day, why didn’t Chelsea have a look?
“When I was walking out of the ground, fans were saying ‘it hasn’t started properly yet, wait until the season starts’ but not what I watched, that was alarming.”
Big signing for the Gunners
In our view, Gabriel Jesus is a big signing for Arsenal and could make a massive impact at the Gunners.
Arsenal will aim to finish in the Premier League top four this season, just like Chelsea, and the Brazil international striker will pay a key role.
Jesus could make a big difference, and Chelsea could well come to regret the decision not to make a move for the striker, especially as there is no Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge now.
Jesus has scored 58 goals and created 28 big chances in 159 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
