Arsenal fans have praised Unai Emery on Twitter for the manner in which he turned down the Newcastle job.
It was looking likely that the 50-year-old, after his only stint in Arsenal colours, was going to return to the Premier League, but in the colours of the Black and White.
The now heavy pockets of Newcastle were trying to lure him towards their direction – only for Emery to inform them that he is ‘100% committed’ to Villarreal and he is ‘grateful’ that the English side knocked on his door.
Arsenal fans loved the manner in which Emery handled the situation and some now feel sorry for how he was treated when he was last in England.
Whilst things started off in a rosy fashion for the Europa League expert, it soon turned sour, with the morale-sapping atmosphere filtering around the Emirates Stadium before he left.
It could have been pretty easy for Emery to take a job in a bigger league and with a much bigger pay packet.
But he has shown that respect to Villarreal, who won the Europa League last season, after beating Arsenal in the semi-final and Manchester United in the final.
Emery’s time will come when he does return to the Premier League because he will, no doubt, feel that he has unfinished business.
Things didn’t go in the direction he would have liked in North London and he will want to prove that he is much better than what his previous stint suggests.
