Why did Neymar get a red card?
The Paris Saint-Germain was sent off in this evening’s fiery visit of Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
Kylian Mbappe scored a last-minute penalty to give the 10-man French champions a narrow 2-1 victory.
But what happened regarding the Brazil international?

Why did Neymar get a red card?
Firstly, the former Barcelona attacker was booked for catching his opponent with a flailing arm on 61 minutes.
But moments later, Neymar picked up a second yellow card for simulation [Sports Illustrated] in a desperate attempt to win PSG a penalty.
The score was 1-1 at the time after Marquinhos cancelled out his own opening goal by scoring an own one on 51 minutes.
According to Sports Illustrated, this was Neymar’s fifth red card for the mega-rich Parisian outfit.
PSG have dominated Ligue 1 over the past decade or so.
But they were only five points clear of Lens in second place prior to kickoff today.
If they had a healthy lead in Ligue 1, to the point where drawing tonight wouldn’t have been detrimental, then Neymar’s antics would’ve been unforgiven.
But actually, PSG did need to win and although diving in football is never acceptable, there is context behind Neymar’s apparent desperation.
