Lorenzo Insigne found the net in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Torino and the goal elicited an emotional reaction.
It hasn’t been the easiest of times for Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne and he celebrated his goal against Torino by bursting into tears.
Insigne had been under intense pressure and he was clearly relieved to score his first goal of the season when he converted a free header.
The 23-year-old had been getting booed and jeered by fans and in recent weeks coach Rafa Benitez had called for their patience.
“I want to thank the fans for the support and affection that they have shown me.
“These were tears of happiness. It was an important goal that gave us the chance to go on and win. We created this success with our great effort and we never relented even when we had bad luck.
“I want to dedicate this goal to my wife who is expecting our second child.”
