The statement began: “The Messi family informs that Jorge Messi is currently going through a health-related situation. At this time, he is under medical supervision, recovering and progressing favorably within the condition he is experiencing.”
In one of its last paragraphs, the message reads: “We sincerely appreciate the expressions of affection, respect, and concern we have received, and we ask that Jorge’s privacy, confidentiality, and intimacy – as well as that of his entire family – be respected throughout this process.”
The message indirectly confirmed Feinmann’s report, while making clear the family wanted speculation to stop.
It also made Messi’s performance feel even more impressive. He scored three times while dealing with a sensitive family matter away from the pitch.

The claim was false, but it spread enough to deepen the noise around an already private health issue.
