Paul Merson mocked Sky Sports presenter Julian Warren for asking him about the gulf between English Premier League side Liverpool and Scottish Premiership outfit Glasgow Rangers following their Champions League encounter on Tuesday night at Anfield.
The two-time Premier League winner stated that he ‘can’t explain’ how big the gulf is between Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The Reds secured a comfortable 2-0 win against the Gers, with club legend Boyd admitting that the massive gap between the two was ‘to be expected’.

Whilst Rangers produced their best moment of the night towards the end of the game, for large parts, it was pretty comfortable for those from Merseyside.
Rangers knew they were going to be in for a difficult evening, but it didn’t help matters when Trent Alexander-Arnold arrowed in a brilliant free-kick inside ten minutes, before Mohamed Salah doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot in the second half.
Nonetheless, after yesterday’s game, Sky presenter Julian Warren asked ‘how big was the gap between the two’ and this is how Merson and Boyd responded, as they told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (04/10/22 at 10:05 pm).
“Very, very comfortable,” said Merson. “Completely and utterly, I can’t explain how big the gulf was all around the pitch, no?!” Merson said as he turns to Kris Boyd on his left.
Boyd responded: “It’s to be expected though.”
Merson then asked: “So, why did Jules ask me, then?!”
Boyd added: “Mo Salah’s wages are more than what (Rangers’) starting XI were – the game should have been out of sight, I felt Rangers, in possession, were poor. If it wasn’t for the 40-year-old in the nets, then it would have been a lot more.”

LIVERPOOL SHOULD SEE THROUGH THE GROUP
Rangers have lost their opening three Champions League games and their fate seems to be heading towards a rock-bottom finish.
They are three points behind Ajax, so they can still secure Europa League football, but it’s Liverpool who should follow high-flying Napoli out of Group A.
The Italian side are working wonders in Serie A this season and that form is showcasing itself in Europe also.
They thrashed Ajax 6-1 yesterday to inflict the Dutch giant’s biggest-ever European defeat, their heaviest defeat in any competition since 1964 and their join largest home loss.
