The Red Star Belgrade striker has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace.
The January transfer window is rapidly approaching and one player who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League is Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye.
Boakye has been in hugely impressive form this season as he has scored 23 goals in 28 games across all competitions, with his performances in the Europa League highlighting his credentials.
Crystal Palace are amongst the clubs interested in signing Boakye, as reported by the Daily Mail, but they are far from the only club monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation, with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion also looking at a possible deal, as reported by ESPN, while Chelsea have sent scouts to watch him.
Palace, however, simply cannot afford to miss out on signing Boakye, with a clinical striker very high on their list of priorities at present.
Although their fortunes have improved slightly since the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager, Palace are languishing in 18th place in the Premier League, while they have mustered just 12 goals in the top flight this season.
Wilfried Zaha, who has found the net three times, is Palace’s leading scorer this campaign, while Christian Benteke hasn’t found the net in 12 league appearances.
Bringing in Boakye, or a player of a similar ilk, is a must for Palace if they are to get out of their current predicament and they have to try their utmost to secure a deal.
