Coco Gauff’s impressive run at the United Cup has continued, playing a key role in sending the USA through to the semi-finals.
Gauff got things started with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maria Sakkari, though Taylor Fritz then dropped his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas to even things up.
But the defending champions still came away with a 2-1 victory, as Gauff teamed up with Christian Harrison to secure the doubles point.
The Americans will now go up against either Poland or Australia next. Those two sides are due to face off in Sydney later this week.
Gauff happy after helping Team USA reach United Cup semifinals

Gauff, who’s been in good form in Perth, will now head to Sydney for another semifinal appearance.
Before the match, she posted on Instagram: “Perth, it’s been a pleasureeee! Happy to start the year off strong and be back into the United Cup semis! Sydney, we’ll see you soon.”
The USA beat Argentina and Spain 2-1 in Group A play and repeated that scoreline against Greece in the quarterfinals.
In Sydney, Australia finished top of Group D while Poland led Group F. Switzerland faced Argentina and Belgium took on Czechia in the other quarterfinals.
Could Coco Gauff repeat as United Cup MVP?
Ranked fourth in the world, Gauff has once again stood out at the United Cup, much like she did during the USA’s 2025 title run.
She was named MVP during that tournament, and her performances this year suggest she’s a strong candidate to win it again.
Gauff opened with a win over Solana Sierra of Argentina, but then lost to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain. Even so, she picked up wins in both doubles matches during those ties and continued that form against Greece following her singles victory over Sakkari.
The team has performed well overall, with Fritz and Harrison also contributing valuable points along the way.
Coco’s record at United Cup is now 8-1 – that is consistency for you…
