It’s been a rocky stretch for Chelsea, and a lot of supporters are pointing fingers at the people in charge.
Enzo Maresca’s departure came as a surprise, but there were signs things weren’t right before it happened.
There had already been talk that the club wasn’t happy with how committed Maresca seemed, and both sides reportedly had strong views on how things should be run.
Chelsea supporters organising protest over Eghbali and club leadership

Whatever your view on how things unfolded, there’s no denying that Maresca had built a strong connection within the club. His time in charge saw Chelsea return to consistent form, delivering some of the best results we’ve seen in recent memory.
It’s not just his sacking, but wider concerns about how the club is being run that have left fans frustrated. The supporters’ group Not A Project CFC posted a statement on social media outlining plans for a protest before Chelsea’s home game against Brentford on January 17th.
The group raised issues including recruitment strategy, micromanagement, and a lack of clear ambition, calling for greater accountability from those making decisions at the top. Their main complaint is that Chelsea “run less like an elite club and more like a player trading farm focused on churn, speculation, and long-term potential at the expense of present day competitiveness.”
This isn’t the first time fans have organised protests under the current ownership. There will be hope this one leads to something more tangible than previous efforts.
Stepping into the Chelsea role is a tough assignment
Maresca’s replacement is going to be facing a tense situation from day one. The club’s current issues mean fans are already on edge, and results will only heighten that tension.
If the new manager doesn’t get off to a good start, it won’t take long for frustration to build.
Liam Rosenior is the early favourite for the role, but he hasn’t managed at this level before and may struggle to win over supporters unless he gets quick results. All in all, there’s plenty of reason for concern around Stamford Bridge at the moment.
