Casemiro’s improved form this season has not only made a difference at Manchester United, but it’s also helped him land the captaincy for Brazil, where he’s backing one of his teammates to prove his worth.
United were never just getting a midfielder in Casemiro. They brought him in as someone who could add stability and leadership to a squad that needed both.
Casemiro kept himself composed through that rough spell and did enough to convince Ruben Amorim. Now, Amorim points to him as the kind of player others should look up to.
It’s a similar story with Brazil. Casemiro has shown belief in one of his international teammates, calling him an ‘undeniable’ talent who just needs the right chance.
Neymar receives support from Casemiro as he faces mounting pressure
Once touted as the next big thing after Messi and Ronaldo, Neymar’s career hasn’t quite lived up to those lofty expectations.
Now, he finds himself in a very different place, reacting poorly to being subbed off for Santos while the club fights relegation.

The rise of more versatile forwards like Matheus Cunha has also contributed to Neymar falling out of favour with the national team setup.
Casemiro, though, still believes Neymar can turn things around. Speaking through Globo (via TnT Sports), the Brazil captain offered his support for the forward.
He said: “My lifestyle is different, more reserved. But we can’t dismiss [Neymar] if he’s doing well. If he’s physically and mentally fit, he’s by far the best. I’m a big fan of him as a player.”
“He can decide a game at any moment. It’s a privilege to say that I played with Neymar. This guy is incredible.”
Certainly, Neymar still has plenty left in him if his mind is right but staying healthy and focused may be his biggest challenge yet.
Ruben Amorim faces big call on Casemiro’s future
Casemiro’s words about Neymar fit the image of a leader who recognises unfulfilled potential and is trying to help Neymar find his form again.
At Man Utd, where unfulfilled potential is often an issue due to the pressure that comes with playing for the club, Casemiro’s presence is hugely valuable.

With his vast experience, Casemiro has what it takes to maintain stability in the dressing room, no matter how much he plays.
This time last year, most had written him off. Now, he’s made enough of an impact that Ruben Amorim has a real decision to make about his future.
