Brooks Koepka is set to make his return to the PGA Tour this week at the Farmers Insurance Open, marking his first appearance since rejoining from LIV Golf.
Koepka left the PGA Tour for LIV in 2022, a move that stirred plenty of debate at the time. He stayed with LIV until December 2025 before making the decision to come back.
He was officially reinstated as a PGA Tour member earlier this month.
Last season with LIV, Koepka didn’t look like himself. There were rumours about tensions behind the scenes and reports suggesting he was given the option to leave if he wasn’t happy.
Now back on familiar ground, all eyes are on how he’ll perform as he steps into a new chapter of his career. However, Torrey Pines hasn’t always been kind to him in the past.
Koepka’s history at the Farmers Insurance Open

Koepka has played four times at the Farmers Insurance Open, which is held at the well-known municipal course.
He’s missed the cut on three of those occasions, with his best finish coming in 2015 when he tied for 41st.
In 2021, Koepka finished tied for fourth in the US Open, just four shots behind eventual winner Jon Rahm.
This week, he’ll be hoping to find some of that major form from 2021 rather than repeat his struggles from earlier in the year. During that regular season event, Koepka posted rounds of 72 and 76 to miss the cut by five strokes.
This was also part of a run where he missed three consecutive cuts on Tour. He didn’t respond well to that stretch either. He broke two full sets of irons during that period — one in Mexico in December and another two months later at Torrey Pines.

Koepka went on to win his next event at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, but he had a rough stretch before that victory. He opened up about his frustration in an interview with GOLF.com, explaining what led him to break every one of his irons after the Farmers Insurance Open.
“Leading up to it, yeah, I was frustrated,” Koepka said.
“I snapped two sets of irons after playing Mexico and then after Torrey, and I don’t really do that. So there was quite a bit of frustration.”
This time around, Koepka will be looking for a much calmer week in San Diego.
There’s plenty of anticipation around Koepka’s return to PGA Tour play at the Farmers Insurance Open.
But with so much expectation on him, it wouldn’t be surprising if he found it tough going at Torrey Pines again, especially given his history there.
