The Cherries striker is being linked to the Blues conveniently around the time the two meet in the Carabao Cup. Besides, not many Chelsea fans seem keen.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has issued a hands-off warning to suitors of Callum Wilson, saying the striker will not be leaving the Vitality Stadium in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in 16 Premier League appearances this season – nine in all competitions – and made his England debut last month against the United States, scoring then too (Transfermarkt).
On Wednesday night, Wilson featured in Bournemouth’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, Eden Hazard coming off the bench and scoring the winner in the 84th minute.
Prior to the tie, Blues assistant coach Gianfranco Zola told Sky Sports News the forward was of “interest” to the west London club and that he had all the attributes “to go a long way”.
Speaking after the game, however, Howe played down the Italian’s comments, telling BBC Sport: “Callum’s our player and very, very focused on us. I think you could see that with his performance.”
When asked whether there was any scenario which could see Bournemouth sell Wilson in January, Howe replied: “Not from my perspective, no.”
Wilson is contracted to the Cherries until 2022 and is valued at 25 million euro by Transfermarkt (around £22.5 million), hardly a snip – not to mention such a figure would likely go up during hardball negotiations.
And judging by some of the reaction on Twitter, not many Chelsea fans seem to be especially keen on him:
