Birmingham City are on the up, and soon enough they will probably be the top side in the whole of the West Midlands.
Just a few years ago, making a statement like this would have been laughable. Birmingham City as a club have experienced their fair share of trials and tribulations, but they have bounced back even stronger and now they look poised to make a run for the play-offs.
One of the major reasons for this is the man at the helm – Gary Rowett. A young, hungry manager can do great things for a side in need of a resurgence and the former Burton boss is clearly passionate about what he’s doing at St. Andrew’s. He has the right amount of experience coupled with a desire to improve this team in every way possible.
Then you just need to look at their challengers. West Brom look to once again be on the decline under Tony Pulis, and whilst he may keep them up you have to wonder how much longer it will be before they slip through the trap door. Either way, the Blues will likely be joining them in the top flight soon enough.

Then you have their bitter rivals Aston Villa. Whilst they are improving under Steve Bruce, the Second City derby proved that they are just not on Birmingham’s level right now. Rowett’s men have that touch more confidence, belief and quality within their game that makes them the better side and it looks set to stay that way.
Meanwhile Wolves are in a complete state of uncertainty. With Paul Lambert coming in with the team lingering towards the relegation zone, it would take a miracle for them to turn their season into a promotion push.
Birmingham City have the youth system, the experience and the stature of a team that can rule over the West Midlands. It will not be long until they finally realise that potential.
