The Aston Villa attacker has been in sensational form this month, leading the way in a series of impressive stats.
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Month award for April.
The Belgium international heads to the Etihad with Villa on Saturday, where he will hope to put in another strong performance that could help him beat the likes of Eden Hazard, Yannick Bolasie, Mesut Ozil, Esteban Cambiasso and Ander Herrera to the prize.
A hat-trick against QPR, as well as strikes away to Manchester United and Spurs, have helped Benteke become one of the form players in the division in recent weeks, while a goal in the FA Cup semi final win over Liverpool will have done his cause no harm at all either.
The Belgian star has led the way in Villa’s sensational recent form that has helped them put a little daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.
| Position | Team | Goals | Total Scoring Att | Percentage of Shots Scored | Aerial Duels Won | Ground Duels Won | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christian Benteke | FW | Aston Villa | 5 | 10 | 50% | 34 | 44 | 3 | 270 |
Benteke has scored five times since April 1, two more goals than Sergio Aguero and Yannick Bolasie this month, carrying on a hot spell of form that has seen him score more times than any other player in the Premier League since Tim Sherwood took over.
But it isn’t just goals where the 24-year-old led the way in April.
Astonishingly, he has won 13 more aerial duels than any other player, way out ahead with 34 challenges won. The former Genk forward has also proven himself when battling for possession on the ground too, being the league’s best in that department with 44 duels won, 8 more than his nearest competitor.
With such phenomenal, league leading statistics, it would be hard for anyone to go against awarding Benteke the monthly prize for April.
