Sam Greenwood joined from Arsenal this summer and he was one of Leeds United’s more lowkey signings of the transfer window.

The 18-year-old joined from the Gunners in a £3 million deal [Leeds Live] and he was always supposed to be an under-23 player originally.

And Greenwood has been bang in form at that level after scoring yet again for the reserves on Friday.

The young striker, who spent two years on Arsenal’s books, scored the only goal of the game as the Whites beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at Thorp Arch.

In doing so, Greenwood now has five goals in his last three games, having scored a hat-trick earlier in the week.

And here’s how Leeds fans reacted to his goal yesterday:

It’s a shame Leeds have already been eliminated from the League Cup, as that competition could have seen Marcelo Bielsa play a number of youngsters if they had progressed.

Barring a massive injury crisis at Elland Road, Greenwood won’t be making his Premier League debut anytime soon, but Bielsa will no doubt be aware of the teenager’s goalscoring exploits as of late and he certainly looks a fine prospect for the future.
