Newcastle United should rival Everton for the talented 29-year-old attacker.
According to Il Messaggero, Everton and Liverpool target Max Kruse is available for £13 million this summer.
So why aren’t Newcastle United throwing their hat into the ring?

The 29-year-old attacker scored 15 goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen last season and Rafael Benitez should try bring him to St James’s Park.
Benitez needs a goalscorer at Newcastle. Dwight Gayle was an inspired number nine as the Magpies clawed their way from the Championship, but the Premier League is a big step-up in class and the former Crystal Palace man has struggled at this level.
Of course, Kruse is untested in English football but, if rumours are to be believed, Everton and Liverpool want him, which is a positive endorsement for the forward.
And he might well consider a move to Newcastle, despite other potential offers.
Presumably he would want first-team football and Kruse would have more chances to impress with the Magpies than Everton or the Reds, given their personnel already.
In the modern market, £13 million is not a lot of money at all and Newcastle should certainly explore the possibility of bringing him to the North-East.
