The young Leeds United loanee has looked a class act despite the club’s recent struggles.
Leeds United’s 1-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this week was a massive blow to their promotion hopes, and while the Whites still have a chance, their more pessimistic supporters believe they have thrown it away at the death having previously looked all but certain for a top-six finish.
Following Leeds’ latest setback, fingers were pointed at a number of players, with January loan signing Alfonso Pedraza among them.
However, the young winger does not deserve to be criticised as – despite not making the hoped for impact in terms of goals and assists – he has looked a class act whenever he is on the ball.
It could be argued that Leeds do not play the style of football that best suits Pedraza’s game, but he has still done his best to make his mark, offering rare glimpses of quality from wide positions in recent matches.
Shifting Pedraza to the right wing, where he can utilise his shooting ability when cutting inside, could be the masterstroke Leeds boss Garry Monk needs to get his campaign back on track. But while some Whites players deserve all the criticism coming their way, the same cannot be said for a 21-year-old with innate ability and an impressive attitude in equal measure.
