The quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been wrapped up.

The two semifinal matchups are as follows: France vs. Spain and Argentina vs. England. In fact, the top four ranked in the world will battle it out in the semifinals for the first time in tournament history.

To make this occasion even more special, Adidas has made a change to its official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Trionda.

Regular Trionda match ball is retired ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals

According to FOX Sports, the original Trionda ball will no longer be used for the remainder of the games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A new Trionda Final ball will be used for the last four games of the tournament.

“The ball will debut during the tournament’s semifinals, third-place game, and the World Cup final,” FOX Sports reported.

The report added, “… This marks the first time in FIFA history that Adidas has introduced a completely distinct final ball design, moving away from the traditional practice of simply updating the color scheme of the tournament’s primary group stage ball.”

The new design will feature gold, black, and white color schemes, which are inspired by the FIFA World Cup trophy. However, it doesn’t mean any performance changes in the official match ball.

It will continue the four-panel construction and the technology that helps VAR in making crucial decisions.
