The German forward has been linked with a temporary switch to West Ham United.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham United remain interested in signing Red Bull Leipzig striker Davie Selke this month, with the German club open to a loan move for the 21-year-old.
While Hammers fans may be quick to dismiss another temporary move given the uninspired showings of Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri, such a move for Selke should be considerably more successful.
At just 21, the German has his whole career ahead of him and he has scored goals wherever he has been, including 10 for Werder Bremen when he was only a teenager and another 10 for Leipzig last season.
Those goals helped fire Leipzig into the top flight and they have not looked back since, although in so doing they have opted to overlook Selke for much of the campaign.
Used predominantly as a substitute, the alleged West Ham target has still managed to find the net twice.
One goal came in a 10-minute appearance against Hamburg while he scored one and set up another in an 18-minute cameo against Bremen.
In short, when he plays he is more than capable of making a difference and a loan move to West Ham would enable them to see if he can cut it in England.
Such is his innate talent in front of goal that Selke is only likely to get better in the years ahead, so even if Leipzig insist on a purchase agreement at the end of the campaign West Ham are unlikely to regret it.
