The young striker looks set to spend the next few months at Leeds United.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United have agreed a half-season loan for Benfica B striker Oliver Sarkic, and on reflection that looks like a smart move from the Whites.
Sarkic will spend the next few months in Leeds’ under-23s as he bids to prove his worth, and with Mallik Wilks recently moving on loan to Accrington Stanley, the new addition looks set to be a direct replacement for the talented 18-year-old.

Wilks hit the ground running on his League Two debut, scoring a dramatic late equaliser for his loan club. But with his own loan spell ending in early January, Leeds will know that any cover for the teenager is only required for so long.
That seems to be where Sarkic comes in, with the Montenegro under-21 international offering an interesting alternative while Wilks continues his development elsewhere, while also aiming to put his own career back on track.

Making Sarkic’s contract short-term, Leeds have ensured that if the player wants to prove his worth he will have to hit the ground running.
It gives the young forward a motivation through fear that, if things do not click in the first month or so, he may have already lost his chance to earn a long-term contract at Elland Road, pushing him on in the process.
The deal could be perfect for Leeds, allowing them the necessary under-23 cover for Wilks and giving their newest addition the chance to seize his opportunity.
One thing is for sure: It should be an interesting few months for Leeds’ second string with a raft of new additions and plenty of points to be proved.
