Newcastle United have been linked with yet another forward.
According to a recent report from the Chronicle, Newcastle United have been told they will have to fork out £15million for Brentford Striker Scott Hogan – and quite simply that is money they do not need to spend.
Hogan is said to be on Newcastle’s January shopping list as they bid to bring another striker to St. James’ Park, but the move makes no sense.
The Magpies have more than enough fire power to ensure their stay in the second tier is as brief as possible, and splashing out £15million for a player unproven in the top flight just a few months before they are expected to return there seems bizarre to say the least.

There is no doubting Hogan’s ability in front of goal, but is he really the player to help them maintain their top flight status next season and beyond?
Newcastle already have Aleksandar Mitrovic, a player who has proved he can score in the Premier League and will be desperate to up his game if and when they return.

The Serbia international may have fallen below Dwight Gayle in the pecking order at St. James’ Park but there is no doubting his quality, and is Hogan really any better?
With Daryl Murphy struggling for minutes this season, the last thing Newcastle need is yet another forward.
They should save their money and wait to bid big for a proven top flight striker in the summer if at all.
