Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter why Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi did not move to Nottingham Forest on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Batshuayi’s potential deal from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest “collapsed” because the documents were not sent in time.

The Athletic were among the media outlets who reported last night that Forest were trying to sign the 28-year-old, who earns £90,000 per week as salary at the moment (Spotrac).

What now?

It will be interesting to see what happens with Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi now.

Nottingham Forest have signed virtually an entire new squad, and a striker of Batshuayi’s quality and experience would have made them better.

Batshuayi is unlikely to play regularly for the Chelsea first team this season.

Maybe Chelsea could offload him when the January transfer window opens.

And maybe Forest could try for the Belgian striker again then.

Batshuayi has scored 15 goals and created two big chances in 77 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Chelsea are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, while Forest will look to avoid relegation to the Championship.
