Areas in need of attention?
After dropping out the title race with a whimper, Wenger is under more pressure to deliver in the transfer market – should he last until this summer’s reopens. As it has been since God was a lad, a top-level centre forward will be the desired target for most Gunners supporters. The impressive start of Elneny has perhaps diluted the need for a new defensive midfield player, though their centre-backs could arguably be improved. Wholesale changes are unlikely, but the likes of Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gibbs may be moved on, with several returning loanees likely to leave for good.
