Manchester City breathed a huge sigh of relief this morning when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifted UEFA’s ban. Pep Guardiola’s side now have to pay a fine and everything is back to normal for them ahead of next season.

That has raised a ton of questions about the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. Many clubs now feel that the richer sides can spend how much ever they want in the upcoming transfer windows which will increase the gap between themselves and the smaller clubs.

Entering the top-six ahead of the big clubs will be even more difficult now for other 14 Premier League sides. However, there is one other club who could seriously benefit from this decision.

Newcastle United are still awaiting a decision on their potential takeover. The Magpies are in talks with a Saudi Arabian consortium over the sale of the club and fans are hoping that the new owners can transform them just like Sheikh Mansour did at Manchester City.

If the takeover does happen and if the new owners are willing to show their ambition in this summer’s transfer window, Newcastle United could become a real force in Europe very soon.

The FFP regulations will not stand in their way if they choose to pump huge amounts of money for transfers and that possibility has struck fear in a few of Newcastle United’s rival fans.

Some rivals feel that UEFA’s lack of control over how much clubs spend will allow Newcastle to reach the top very quickly.

A few rivals fans are even predicting Premier League and Champions League titles for Newcastle United in just a few years time which would be an incredible achievement.
