‘Who’s laughing now’: Some Spurs fans react to old Jody Morris tweet about Mourinho

Chelsea coach Jody Morris may now regret a Twitter message he sent about Jose Mourinho in 2019 before he became Tottenham boss.

Mourinho was working for Sky Sports at the time and shared that he was ‘still worried’ about Chelsea’s performances under Frank Lampard in big games.

Well, at the time, that sparked a reaction from Lampard’s right-hand man, as you can see below. But after Tottenham’s penalty shoot-out win in the League Cup on Tuesday night, he may now regret what he said:

A selection of Spurs fans have now pulled up the old tweet and reminded Morris of what he said because things aren’t going well for those at Stamford Bridge.

Given Tottenham’s pretty hectic fixture list, Mourinho had to prioritise and he opted to play without a number nine, with Heung-Min Son injured, Harry Kane on the bench and Gareth Bale still battling back to fitness.

After a pretty lacklustre first-half performance, Erik Lamela equalised late into the second-half, which sent the tie to penalties.

It resulted in Mason Mount missing a crucial spot-kick, which has now sent a jubilant Mourinho and his Spurs side through to the next round.

For Lampard, it could be argued that Mourinho is ‘still worried’ about their performances in big games because Chelsea, after spending big in the transfer market, aren’t exactly pulling up trees because the pressure will now begin to mount on the Englishman in charge.
