Neil Warnock
The former QPR boss could still have the last laugh if he steers Wolves to safety at the R’s expense. Would he be up for the challenge? You bet.
Alan Curbishley
Curbishley is linked with pretty much every vacant Premier League job going, and today he announced he was interested in taking over from McCarthy. He did wonders for Charlton, although his spell at West Ham was poor. He deserves another chance.
Graeme Souness
Who wouldn’t love to see Souness back in the dugout? The former midfield hardman pulls no punches and would be a very similar character to McCarthy. We wonder if he will want to swap the safety of the Sky studio for a relegation fight.
Chris Hughton
Hughton is a manager who was given an impossible task at Birmingham. However he has done a good job of keeping them stable, and will be tempted to make the step up if he is approached.
Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce is a man with a point to prove. His reputation is in tatters after a dismal spell at Sunderland, which Martin O’Neill’s success is highlighting. He has a fair record and may be seen as a safe pair of hands to steer the club from relegation.
Dave Jones
The former Cardiff City boss is currently out of work and would surely fancy taking the job on. He came agonisingly close to taking the Welsh club to the Premier League, only falling in the play-offs, and he’d cope well in the Championship if the worst happened.
Billy Davies
Davies is a manager seemingly on a tour of all the Midlands clubs in the league, so why wouldn’t he throw his name into the Wolves hat? He has been out of work since June after a spell at Nottingham Forest and has been in the Premier League with Derby once before.
Roy Keane
What an insult it would be for Mick McCarthy if his old nemesis Roy Keane came back to take his place. Don’t rule it out- the Wolves players need a kick up the backside and Keane would relish doing it.
Paul Ince
Ince is another former Manchester United man on the list, but importantly, has history with Wolves. He played at Molineux when they first returned the the top flight a decade ago, and has a great affinity with the club. Also currently out of work, he could jump straight into the hotseat without complication.
Ian Holloway
Who wouldn’t love to see Ian Holloway back in the Premier League? He coached the type of exciting football with Blackpool which Wolves fans could only dream of under McCarthy, and he would give the players a huge boost.
