With Southampton set to be relegated this season, James Ward-Prowse has spoken about his future amid links to a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

After all, a report last Tuesday claimed that Spurs were scouting the English midfielder during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

As many expect James Ward-Prowse to push for a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, the man himself has now said his piece.

For the Lilywhites’ sake, they are in desperate need of a midfielder and several supporters have expressed their desire to see Ward-Prowse play his football in N17 next season.

As Southampton now looked primed for relegation, James Ward-Prowse has reacted to the suggestion that he would fancy a transfer to any interested club like Tottenham if his boyhood club go down.

 “[There’s] nothing in that, no. The club know my thoughts and my position in terms of what I want to achieve in my career, and nothing has changed within that despite where we are in the league”, he told Hampshire Live.

“I want to give my all for this football club. and I always have done. Every time I put the shirt on, I always give 100% and that’s no different whether we lose our next game or we win it, it won’t change who I am as a person and that’s giving everything for this club.”

While James Ward-Prowse expressed his commitment towards Southampton, he seemed to suggest that he could be headed towards a summer transfer, which should excite Tottenham fans.

“For me, it’s just being focused on where I am now and giving my all for this club, which I always have done since I was eight years old. So that for me doesn’t change. What happens beyond that, who knows, I don’t know.”

Tottenham supporters will likely be encouraged by these quotes as it seems like James Ward-Prowse is simply being coy about his desire for a transfer.
