There are a number of celebrity golfers who might well fancy themselves as professionals.

Many of them are professional sportspeople in other disciplines. Tiger Woods named Tony Romo and John Smoltz as the best celebrity golfers he’s played with, and both have tried their hands at professional events.

As has the NBA’s greatest-ever shooter, Stephen Curry, who is also the only person to break 50 alongside Bryson DeChambeau in his YouTube series.

But the worst celebrity golf two-time major winner Jon Rahm has ever seen is also a professional athlete, who didn’t take kindly to being named by the LIV Golf star.

Who Jon Rahm said is the worst celebrity golfer

Rahm, who is a winner of The Masters and the US Open, named NFL legend J.J. Watt as the worst celebrity golfer he has ever played with.

The Spaniard told the Eli Manning Show, “God I love him to death, but celebrity status, his golf game is not there. It has got to be J.J. Watt. Yeah, I’m sorry I love the guy to death.

“I tell him all the time he is too strong! You can’t be that strong and that big and play golf.”

Rahm teamed up with Watt in a Pro-Am at the 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open

Watt is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year award winner in the NFL, and finished runner-up in MVP voting in 2014 as a defensive end. He’s regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in the league’s history.

But there’s no second career waiting for him in golf, according to Rahm! And Watt wasn’t too happy to hear himself called out!

J.J. Watt’s reaction to being called the worst celebrity golfer by Jon Rahm

Watt saw Rahm’s comments on X, and posted a meme that read “What the f–k” in response.

He later mentioned Rahm again later that afternoon, after one of his better starts to a golf round, saying, “After 2 holes, I was ready to post the scorecard in response to Jon’s ‘worst celebrity golfer’ video.

“Then it fell apart for a bit. Then it kinda came back. 2 Birdies 2 Pars 2 Bogeys 2 Doubles 1 Triple Just your standard scorecard.”

If that’s the round Watt is using in response to Rahm’s criticisms, then the Spaniard may have a point!
