The South American country qualified for their 14th World Cup in March, going on a four-game winning streak to secure their position.

Le Celeste – or the Sky Blues – will be in Group H, alongside Portugal, Ghana and South Korea.

They’ll be hoping to top the group, because whoever finishes second is most likely to face Brazil in the round of 16.

Who is Uruguay’s all time top goal scorer?

Uruguay produce an amazing number of brilliant players considering the size of the country.

The South American nation has a population of 3.4m, making it smaller than Croatia and Moldova.

In particular, Uruguay have produced some brilliant strikers.

Their two top scorers both have a chance of going to the World Cup in Qatar.

With 68 goals in 134 appearances, Luis Suarez in Uruguay’s all time top goal scorer.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward already has seven World Cup goals to his name.

He only needs two more to beat the record for most scored by a Uruguayan at the tournament.

That record is held by Oscar Miguez, who sits in 6th on the all-time list with 27 goals in 39 appearances.

Miguez also has a World Cup winners medal after being part of the side who won the tournament in 1950.

In second place is Valencia forward Edinson Cavani.

Cavani has only played one less game than Suarez, but has ten less goals, as his current tally stands at 58.

Suarez and Cavani are miles ahead of the chasing pack, with retired forward Diego Forlan in third with 36 goals.

Uruguay’s active strikers won’t be challenging the pair for some time.

Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez has three goals so far, and Fenerbahce’s Diego Rossi just one.

In fact, four players currently sit on eight goals, including Diego Godin and Giorgian de Arrascaeta, and they remain Suarez’s closest rivals for now.

Suarez should have one last World Cup in his locker to try and extend his record even further.
