The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is said to have the player on his radar at Ibrox.

Rangers are tracking the Gillingham striker Tom Eaves ahead of the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
But just who is Steven Gerrard’s latest reported target?
HITC has the lowdown…
5) Like Gerrard, Eaves is a Liverpool lad, although it was across Lancashire at Oldham Athletic that the striker began his professional career, after a spell at the renowned academy of Crewe Alexandra. He would, however, be only the third official Scouser on Rangers’ playing staff, after Jordan Rossiter and Jon Flanagan.
4) It is fair to say that Eaves’ move to Gillingham at the start of last season has revived his career. Already, the 26-year-old has scored 31 goals (13 of which have arrived this season, putting him top of the League One scorers’ chart) in 72 Gills appearances. That is seven more than he managed in 135 at previous clubs.

3) He is, however, out of contract next summer and, according to Sky Sports, has indicated that he will not be signing-on at Priestfield. A cut-price January move could be on the cards, therefore. English sides Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are also said keen.
2) Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Eaves is an obvious aerial threat, and many of his goals for Gillingham have been scored with that part of his body. The question many Rangers fans will be asking, however, is that without the pace of Alfredo Morelos or Umar Sadiq, is he maybe too similar to Kyle Lafferty?

1) Eaves has already played alongside one Rangers player, Connor Goldson at Shrewsbury. And it could have been two, had he not somehow managed to miss James Tavernier, who like Eaves signed for both Shrewsbury and Rotherham in 2013. Tavernier’s Rotherham spell began just three days after the Gillingham striker was recalled by Bolton Wanderers.
Would Eaves be a good addition for Rangers?
