How Rich Paul met LeBron James
James and Paul’s careers have developed together over the years. When they first met, Paul was selling vintage sports jerseys out of his car.
But when the two met at the Akron-Canton airport in 2002, everything changed. LeBron was impressed with the two vintage shirts he bought from Paul, and by the time the 2003 draft came around, he was in the inner circle.
A few years later, Paul started working for Leon Rose’s Rose and Creative Artists Agency, where they worked closely together through ‘The Decision’ that took him to Miami.
In 2012, Paul left the agency along with James, founding Klutch Sports Group. The rest, as they say, is history.
Rich Paul’s personal life and relationship to Adele
Reports of a relationship between Paul and British singer Adele first emerged back in 2021. On August 9th 2024, she announced their engagement. A wedding date is yet to be announced.
Paul has three children. He has openly discussed the difficulties of raising kids as a young entrepreneur, but is still hoping to add to his family in the years to come.
What Rich Paul has said about LeBron James move
Paul has been very vocal about his client’s NBA free agency. He shared pictures of the whiteboards his team were using to decide on a new landing spot for James.
According to him, there are at least ten interested parties.
The number one shout remains the Golden State Warriors, to team up with long-time rival Stephen Curry. Paul has expressed his excitement at that prospect, but continues to discuss alternatives at the same time.
This will be the busiest few weeks of the celebrity agent’s year — maybe of his decade. But he has been by James’ side for over 20 years for a reason. There’s a trust there.
He made his name from the friendship, but the success of Klutch Sports in the time since — including deals with crypto exchange Robinhood and a stake in sports collectables firm Funko — shows he wasn’t just in the right place at the right time.
