Tottenham Hotspur face some big decisions in the transfer market this summer, and there could be changes in goal.

Hugo Lloris has been first-choice stopper since his arrival from Lyon in 2012, but he is now being heavily linked with a move away; Nice are the latest suitor.

Spurs are now being linked with a new stopper, as L’Equipe claim that Tottenham want to sign Mike Maignan, the Lille goalkeeper who is part of the French national team setup with Lloris.

Maignan may not be a household name for fans in the Premier League just yet, so here are some facts about the shot-stopper.

1. Maignan came up through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, spending six years in their setup before heading to Lille in 2015.

2. The 25-year-old has now racked up more than 150 first-team appearances, all of them coming for Lille, becoming one of the top goalkeepers in Europe – maybe PSG regret letting him go after all!

3. In 2019, Maignan took to Twitter to post a heartfelt message when goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos left Lille. Santos joined Tottenham, meaning Spurs’ interest is now no surprise – and an reunion emotional reunion with his former tutor could seriously appeal to Maignan.

4. Earlier this month, Lille boss Christophe Galtier suggested that Maignan will ultimately become the replacement for Lloris, believing his time will come soon. He meant on the international stage, but maybe he could replace him at Tottenham too.

5. Maignan looked to be heading to Chelsea last summer, but the Blues wouldn’t pay the £32million asking price, signing Edouard Mendy instead – and leaving Maignan angry at the lack fo a deal, meaning Spurs could finally give him that move to London after all.
