With just eight Championship games remaining, it’s around this sort of time the end of season award nominations start piling in, despite there still being games left to play.
However, in some ways, it does make sense as nearly all the players listed have made vital contributions to their respective clubs, and one of those is Leeds United’s Chris Wood.
The New Zealand international has hit a whopping 24 goals in 36 Championship matches this season – 27 in 40 in all competitions – with Leeds as a result putting themselves in a great chance of returning to the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2004.
As things stand, Wood would have scored the second highest amount of goals in a season this decade for Leeds, with Ross McCormack narrowly ahead on 29, and this season resembles a turnaround of sorts for the 25-year-old.

While last season Wood was top scorer for Leeds with 13 goals, the general feeling among the Elland Road faithful was that he could have scored so much more, but was fairly wasteful.
This season however, Wood has been completely lethal in front of goal, and his form has been so impressive, that there is simply no other option than to state he’s Leeds’ player of the year so far.
