Who is Kely Nascimento? Many have asked about the daughter of Pele as she provides updates on his worrying situation.
The Brazil legend – regarded by millions as the greatest footballer in history – will spend Christmas in hospital after his cancer sadly advanced, where he now requires treatment for heart and kidney problems.
Pele – aged 82 – has been battling colon cancer since September 2021, and was placed back into hospital on Tuesday 29th November for doctors to reassess his situation.
His daughter has since been providing updates on her personal Instagram account.
So, who is Kely Nascimento? Let’s take a look…
Who is Kely Nascimento?
Well, Pele’s eldest daughter is the President of the Nascimento Foundation, which “supports and creates programs to achieve a global understanding of peace through sports, storytelling and the arts as tools that facilitate diplomacy and development” as per their official website.
Born in Santos, Nascimento has lived in New York ever since Pele uprooted his family to complete a move to the New York Cosmos in 1975.
The South American attended Parsons School of Design and has worked as an editorial, portrait and social commentary photographer, creative director and producer of multi-media and art projects.
As covered by the Guardian, Nascimento created a documentary on women’s football, racism in Brazil and the fight for equality, which is called Warriors of a Beautiful Game.
She also made a video blog during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil called The Real Pele, which showcased her father’s true personality behind the scenes. It was later broadcast by major television stations worldwide.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Pele’s daughter speaks fluent Portuguese and English, is proficient in French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Nascimento has four children, and lives in New York with her husband and – according to Soccer Conference – their nine chickens.
Will Pele be okay?
Be sure to keep an eye on Nascimento’s Instagram account as she posts updates on Pele’s health.
