Who is Kareem Ahmed? Many Liverpool fans have been wondering after the 15-year-old scored on his debut for the Under-18 side.
The Egyptian wonderkid scored a vital goal as Liverpool’s young guns overcame Bournemouth’s Under-18 side by a 2-1 scoreline in the FA Youth Cup, putting the Reds 2-0 up to net what eventually turned out to be the winner.
So, who is Kareem Ahmed? Let’s take a look…
Who is Kareem Ahmed?
Well, at the risk of putting pressure on him, Liverpool could have another Mohamed Salah on their hands.
It speaks volumes that Ahmed was already entrusted to play three years above his age group, so for him to actually end up scoring the winning goal against Bournemouth is truly special.
The teenager is also part of the Egypt youth set-up, so if he continues to shine in the Under-18 ranks at Anfield, he may end up being fast tracked into the senior side next to Salah.
Ahmed plays as a forward, and stepped up in the absence of Liverpool’s Under-18 top scorer Lewis Koumas and also the highly-rated Trent Kone Doherty to fire the Reds to victory.
Wearing the No.18 shirt on his first taste of football at this level, the Egyptian popped up inside the box to opportunistically pounce on a knock down from a corner in the 78th minute.
Despite the fact it was his debut, Ahmed already seems to be a popular figure in the Under-18 ranks, as his teammates enthusiastically mobbed him after his effort put them 2-0 up at the Vitality Stadium.
You can see footage of his poacher’s goal on Bournemouth’s official YouTube channel – make sure to fast forward along to 2:13:26 in the video.
