Everton are the latest Premier League club to be credited with an interest in the teenager.

Everton are ‘understood to be pondering a bid’ for the Hamilton centre-back, Jamie Hamilton, according to The Daily Mail.

But what should those of an Everton persuasion know about their side’s latest alleged target?

HITC Sport has the lowdown, here:

What sort of centre-back is Hamilton?

The Daily Mail described him as an “elegant, ball-play(er) who has been compared in style to John Stones’, the Manchester City and former Everton man. Like Stones, the teenager can also play at right-back and defensive midfield, according to Transfermarkt.

How experienced is he?

Not very. Hamilton only turned 17 in March and has made just two appearances for the Accies’ first team. He was sent off 20 minutes into his Premiership debut against Motherwell in August.

So why are Everton keen?

Hamilton caught the eye for the Accies during last season’s UEFA Youth League, according to The Daily Mail, and also captained Scotland Under-17s before being called into the U19 set-up.

Are the Toffees alone in showing an interest?

The Daily Mail reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Derby County and Southampton have all checked on Hamilton’s progress, having previously claimed that Wolves and Burnley were weighing up bids in April.

How much would Hamilton cost?

The Accies were anticipating offers of around £800,000 earlier this year, which they would have found difficult to turn down, according to The Daily Mail. Whether or not that figure has changed since then remains to be seen, however.
