Leeds United are one of the clubs credited with interest in Hastie.

Leeds United are among the English clubs who sent scouts to watch the Motherwell winger, Jake Hastie, on Wednesday, according to the Daily Record.

But what should Leeds fans know about Hastie?

Here are five facts to get you up to speed…

What sort of player is Hastie?

Hastie is a left-footed winger or striker with plenty of end product. He’s six feet tall and physically strong, which aides his direct approach and ensures he is not easily dispossessed. He’s also a graduate of Motherwell’s youth system, and turns 20 next month.

End product, you say?

Yes. According to Transfermarkt, Hastie has scored or made 25 goals in 70 professional games – slightly better than one every three games. Most of those have arrived in Scotland’s lower leagues, during loan spells with Aidrie and Alloa, although he has scored or made five in eight games for Motherwell’s first team. Stephen Robinson’s side have won all four of their games since bringing back Hastie last month.

What’s his situation?

Hastie’s deal ends this summer and according to the Daily Record, while Motherwell have held talks with the player regarding an extension, there is still some distance between the two parties.

How much is he likely to cost Leeds?

An exact figure has yet to be provided, although according to the Daily Record he is available to English sides for a “cut-price development fee” if he fails to commit at Fir Park.

Who else is watching?

According to the Daily Record, two of Leeds’ promotion rivals, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion, along with Swansea City [owners of another Whites-linked left-winger, Daniel James] and Sunderland.
