Eros Grezda has travelled to Glasgow for a medical after Rangers agreed a fee with NK Osijek for his transfer, according to the Scottish Sun.

Grezda only emerged as a target for Steven Gerrard’s side over the weekend, and remains largely unknown outside of the Balkans.

But what is there to know about the seemingly imminent Rangers recruit? Here are five facts to get you up to speed.

5) Capable of playing anywhere across the final third of the pitch, it is on the flanks, both left and right, that Grezda is most commonly found. And given the anticipated season-long absence facing Rangers’ Jamie Murphy, that is also where the 23-year-old is likely to feature at Ibrox.

4) Grezda only moved to his current employers a year ago and scored or assisted 11 goals in 37 games in all competitions, as Osijek recorded a fourth-place finish last term. But unlike Borna Barisic, who left the Croatian side for Rangers earlier this summer, Grezda did not feature against Gerrard’s men in this season’s Europa League qualifying round, owing to injury.

3) A full Albania international – despite having been born and raised in what is now Kosovo – Grezda spent time in Austria and Slovenia before his move to Croatia, initially with Lokomotiva Zagreb. He should, however, have little trouble communicating with his prospective new teammates if his Instagram posts – which are often delivered in fluent English – are any indication.

2) According to Grezda’s national team boss Christian Panucci [yes, that Christian Panucci], the winger’s European tour could have had further stops in Italy and Turkey, where clubs showed interest in acquiring his services. And their failure to do so could be very much Rangers’ gain.

1) The Scottish Sun reports Rangers will pay around £2 million for Grezda, making him the Ibrox side’s fifth most expensive recruit since their 2012 relegation, after Connor Goldson (£3.04 million*), Carlos Pena (£2.7 million*) Barisic (£2.22 million*) and Nikola Katic (£2.07 million*).
