Liverpool fans have received a boost after hearing that Argentina star Enzo Fernandez has agreed to join the Reds from Benfica.
That is according to Record in Portugal, who believe the South American – who Benfica paid just €18m (£16m) for – is on his way to Anfield after impressing at the World Cup.
Fernandez – aged just 21 – is set to start for Argentina in their World Cup semi-final against Croatia tonight, but given his lack of experience, some may have never heard of him.

Well, if you haven’t already heard about the Argentina international, we believe he will soon be a household name.
Fernandez emerged from the youth ranks at River Plate, where he made 53 appearances before Benfica snapped him up in a £16m deal back in July.
The San Martín-born maestro became an instant hit in Portugal as he scored three goals in his first three appearances, with two of those coming in Champions League qualifying as Benfica reached the Group Stage thanks to his efforts.
In terms of playing style, Fernandez is very much an all-rounder in midfield.
The Benfica No.13 is a strong tackler, a composed passer of the ball, and also someone who can sniff out a goal.
Fernandez has already showcased his attacking capabilities in Qatar, scoring a phenomenal curled effort to seal a vital 2-0 win over Mexico in Group C.

As aforesaid, Record in Portugal believe Liverpool have secured a pre-contract agreement with the Argentina international.
Now, the Reds just need to shake hands on a fee with Benfica, which should then allow Fernandez to undergo medical examinations on Merseyside.
