Leeds United are on the verge of appointing Daniel Farke as their new manager and are pushing to land assistant Eddie Riemer.

Daniel Farke is set to become Leeds United manager with long-time assistant Eddie Riemer seemingly following him.

The Athletic report that Leeds will now appoint Farke as their new boss inside the next 24 hours.

Farke was expected to fly to England on Monday evening with a deal now in place for him to become Leeds boss.

Leeds are also trying to tie up deals for Farke’s trusted coaching team to join him at Elland Road.

The Athletic suggest that Leeds are finalising deals to bring in Eddie Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla. 

Riemer will be Farke’s assistant and Leeds fans may want to know a little more about the German’s right-hand man…

Who is Eddie Riemer?

Riemer – whose real first name is Edmund, but he goes by Eddie – was actually born in Kazakhstan but moved to Germany as a kid with his family.

Riemer was a centre back as a player and spent his career in Germany’s lower leagues with SC Paderborn, Delbrucker SC and SV Lippstadt.

The final club in that list is the one where Farke and Riemer first crossed paths.

Farke was in charge of Lippstadt from 2009 to 2015 and brought Riemer to the club in his first summer window.

Riemer retired in 2015 but then joined the coaching staff Borussia Dortmund II, following Farke by becoming his assistant.

The pair have been inseparable ever since.

Riemer followed Farke to Norwich City in 2017 and even agreed to join Krasnodar in 2022 before both Germans scrapped the move without coaching a single game.

When Borussia Monchengladbach came calling, Riemer was right there with Farke once again.

The 38-year-old is now poised to join Farke yet again, making it six clubs together in total.

Riemer has admitted having an eye for defensive coaching have been a centre back himself, which will be music to the ears of Leeds fans after some dodgy defending in recent years.

Still a fairly young coach, Riemer may have aspirations of becoming a manager one day but is now set to follow Farke once again, this time to Elland Road.
