Leeds United are talking a look at the non-league talent, who has recently lost teammates to Championship clubs including Sheffield United.
The Matlock Town defender, Ashton Hall, is currently on trial at Leeds United, his club confirmed on Wednesday.
But should Leeds fans know about Hall?
Here’s are five facts to get you up to speed:
5) Initially on the books of Leeds’ promotion rivals, Sheffield United, Hall later progressed through Matlock’s youth system and went on to captain the Gladiators’ academy side.
4) In March last year, then 17, Hall signed up to a long-term contract at Causeway Lane, becoming the youngest player ever to do so.
3) He made his first-team debut during September’s defeat against Workington Reds, and has been tracked by Leeds for several months since then [Derbyshire Times].
2) Hall is the latest young talent to catch the eye at Matlock, after Max Hunt and Zak Brunt, who have since moved on to Derby County and Sheffield United respectively. Brunt sent the following message to his former teammate on Wednesday:
1) Hall already follows one Leeds player on Twitter, the Whites captain Liam Cooper. It was of course at Matlock’s neighbours, Chesterfield, that Cooper made his name.
